Two Detroit Career Fairs at WCCCD: Veterans Fair Oct. 14, Eastern Campus Oct. 15

DETROIT, MI — Two Detroit career fairs land on back-to-back days in mid-October, both on Wayne County Community College District campuses and both built around meeting employers face to face. On Wednesday, October 14, the City of Detroit's Office of Veteran Affairs runs a free job and resource fair at WCCCD's downtown campus on West Fort Street. The next morning, Thursday, October 15, WCCCD's Eastern Campus on Conner Street hosts a career fair open to all job seekers.

Two days, two campuses, two different crowds. Here is which one fits you, and what to bring to both.

Wednesday, Oct. 14: Veteran Job and Resource Fair Downtown

The City of Detroit's Office of Veteran Affairs bills this one as a single stop for work and support: employers, on-site interviews, community resources and veteran benefits under one roof. The name says veteran, but the city's own listing calls it free and open to the public and invites Detroit veterans and residents alike.

The key phrase is on-site interviews: show up ready to sit down with a recruiter. Free accessible parking is available and ASL interpreters will be on hand. You can pre-register through the city's event link. No employer roster has been published.

Thursday, Oct. 15: WCCCD Eastern Campus Career Fair

The next day the action moves to the east side. The Eastern Campus fair is listed as open to all job seekers, not just WCCCD students, with a chance to meet and interview with employers and learn about training. Recruiting is expected across healthcare, engineering, manufacturing, skilled trades, customer service, IT, and transportation and trucking.

The Eastern Campus houses WCCCD's Mechatronics Center and its Center for Workforce and Economic Development, so if a recruiter says you need a certificate first, training is down the hall. No registration requirement or admission charge has been published, and no employer list either. Questions go to Detroit at Work's main line at (313) 962-9675.

⚠️ Read This Before You Pick a Day

  • The Eastern fair is short. It runs three hours and wraps at 1 p.m. Get there in the first hour, when recruiters still have time and interview slots.
  • Neither event has named its employers. Bring a resume that works across more than one field.
  • Different event, different day. If you landed here looking for the CVS Health hiring event or the Meyers Road career fair, those are October 6 and 8, covered in our separate guide.

🔎 How to Pick the Right One

  • Veterans and military families: October 14. Recruiters, benefits help and resources in one trip.
  • Trades, manufacturing and CDL drivers: October 15 on Conner, where those sectors are named outright.
  • Healthcare and customer service: either day, and both if you can swing it.

🔎 Where to Aim Before Mid-October

Two fairs in two days is a good week, not a whole search. Apply now, so you can tell a recruiter you already put in an application.
